Acorn Agri and Food Limited is a private equity firm specializing in growth, expansion, middle market, later, Industry Consolidation, Recapitalizations and mature stage investments. The firm is not restricted to any particular industry but prefers to invest in production, agri input, services, energy, logistics, agri production and food processing. The firm prefers to invest in agriculture and food chain sectors preferably in Southern Africa. It prefers to invest in countries in Sub-Saharan Africa and mainly in South Africa. The firm prefers to invest at least ZAR 50 million ($2.88 million) to ZAR 750 Million ($43.40 million) in companies with companies having enterprise value of minimum ZAR 100 million ($5.77 million). The firm also prefers to invest in family owned or entrepreneurial businesses, and where management has a stake in the company. The firm acquires at least 25.1 percent stake in any portfolio company and up to 35 percent stake in a venture capital portfolio company. It prefers to exit its investments within five to ten years.
