Alta Equity Partners is a private equity and venture capital firm specializing in early stage, late stage, growth equity, emerging growth, buyout, growth capital, roll-ups, recapitalizations, lower middle market and leveraged buyout investments. The firm does not invest in real estate and start-ups. It seeks to invest in management buyouts, underinvested businesses, corporate divestitures of non-core businesses, family businesses, Complex situations such as bankruptcy or debt restructuring, and businesses undergoing fundamental changes, financial or operational turnarounds, and deals necessitating rapid timelines to completion. It seeks to invest in small and medium sized businesses in lower middle market companies across diversified industry sectors within the media and telecommunications sectors including all the sectors that underlie and support these industries with the media and telecommunication sector. The firm seeks to invest in telephone and communication equipment repair, internet and direct marketing retail, wireless application service providers, data center/ Co-location, internet services provider, technology hardware, storage and peripherals, business services, software/ software-as-a-service, data and information services, industrial products and services, communications and media, broadcasting with a focus on radio broadcasting and television broadcasting; digital media with a focus on lead generation, vertical ad networks, vertical search, and pay-for-performance advertising; direct marketing services with a focus on direct marketing, marketing and advertising services, direct mail and direct response, and lead generation; telecom services with a focus on wireless operators (including rural cellular and PCS) and wireline carriers (including incumbent and rural local exchange carriers), tower operators, outsourced service providers, and wireless spectrum, CLECs, alternative carrier, and other competitive broadband service providers; b2b media and publishing with a focus on information services, b2b and b2c publishing, trade shows and conferences, and online publishing; out-of-home-media with a focus on outdoor advertising, other alternative media, and in-store advertising; content with a focus on film libraries, movie exhibitors, ethnic media platforms, and gaming; and cable with a focus on cable television operators and networks. The firm usually invests in United States, Canada, and the Caribbean. It typically invests between $2 million and $75 million in transactions in its portfolio companies with enterprise values between $5 million to $50 million, EBITDA between $1 million and 10 million and revenue greater than $5 million, but can invest smaller and larger amounts if required. The firm also prefers to take majority stake in its portfolio companies. The firm makes control and minority investments and can act as the sole investor or co-invest with others and seeks a board seat and governance rights. It invests for a period of five to eight years. Alta Equity Partners was founded in 1996 and is based in Concord, Massachusetts with an additional office in Boston, Massachusetts.
