Alven is an independent venture capital firm founded in 2000 by Guillaume Aubin and Charles Letourneur. Based in Paris, France, Alven has raised five funds, investing in over a hundred startups, primarily in France and the United States. The firm typically invests in 10 to 15 new companies each year. Notable investments include Se Loger, Platform.sh, Algolia, OpenClassrooms, Dataiku, Stripe, Drivy, Captain Train (acquired by Trainline), PeopleDoc (acquired by Ultimate Software), Frichti, Sezane, Marco Vasco, Qonto, Pretto, Tinyclues, Happn, Wit.ai (acquired by Facebook), Bime (acquired by Zendesk), Yubo, and Smallable. In September 2017, Alven was recognized by La Tribune as one of the three most active French funds and by CB Insights as the most active venture capital firm in France. The firm's fifth fund, Alven V, announced in January 2017, raised €200 million, marking one of the largest fundraisings in the sector at that time. Alven's team of approximately 15 professionals is located in the heart of Paris's Sentier district.
