BH Equity (fka SIM SICAR) is a venture capital and private equity arm of BH Bank Société anonyme specializing in seed, early to late venture, emerging growth, recapitalization, later stage, growth capital, leveraged buyout and turnaround. It seeks to invest in all business sectors except private household real estate, with a focus on companies operating in the technology sector or using innovative methods, operating in the recycling sector or environment protection, and also in agriculture, industrials, tourism, and services. The firm particularly invests in companies based in developing regions of Tunisia, all other areas of Tunisia and Tunisian firms based abroad. It considers investments between TND0.1 million ($0.062 million) and TND2 million ($1.25 million). The firm prefers to invest for a period of five to seven years in its portfolio companies. It takes up to 30 percent stake in its investee companies. It prefers exiting through retrocession (selling shares back to the portfolio owners), strategic acquisition or secondary sale. The firm invests through its balance sheet. BH Equity was founded in 1997 and is based in Tunis, Tunisia.
