It also seeks to invest in biomaterials and how they can be used in any type of clinical area. Also, the product must be based on strongly protected I/P. The firm invests throughout the United States with a focus on Midwest and California. It seeks to make initial investments between 0.25 million to $1 million in the portfolio company and invests between $2million and $6 million over the life of an investment. The firm prefers to be a lead investor but makes follow-on investments as well. It reserves an additional $250,000 to $1 million for follow-on investment rounds. The firm typically invests through convertible preferred stock. It seeks a seat on the scientific advisory board of the portfolio company. The firm prefers to negotiate investments either alone or with other venture capitalists as co-investors.
