Calvert Street Capital Partners, Inc. is a private equity and credit firm specializing in lower middle market, buyout and build strategy through organic means and strategic add-on acquisitions, leveraged acquisitions, recapitalizations, mezzanine, industry consolidation, and growth capital transactions. It does not invest in start-ups, early-stage venture capital, and real estate transactions or in companies that develop rapidly changing technology. The firm makes subordinated debt and minority equity investments. The firm primarily invests in industrial services, healthcare information technology, specialty manufacturing, and business service companies. It seeks to invest in North America. The firm typically invests between $3 million and $40 million in each platform investment and can invest up to $40 million per strategy including add-ons. It invests in businesses with annual sales between $20 million and $100 million, EBITDA between $3 million and $15 million, enterprise value between $20 million and $100 million. For platform investments, the firm invests in companies with minimum EBITDA of $5 million and does not have any size minimums or maximums for add-on acquisitions. For add-on acquisitions to existing portfolio companies, it has no minimum requirements for sales and earnings. The firm seeks to take an active role on each portfolio company’s board of directors. It prefers to invest in family, entrepreneur, or operator owned companies and has a strong preference to be the first institutional investor. The firm prefers to take minority stake. It seeks to acquire controlling interests in private companies but may also take non-controlling stakes. The firm seeks to hold on to its investments for a period of three to five years.
