The firm does not invest in early stage companies, venture capital, biotech, computer hardware or software, real estate, and general contractors or subcontractors. It prefers to invest in consumer staples, natural foods, active lifestyle, automotive aftermarket, recreation and outdoors, pet foods and products, housewares, branded building products, health and wellness, coatings and adhesives, test and measurement, aerospace, flow control, food, beverages, consumer or industrial products, value added distribution companies, business and consumer service companies, restaurants, and retail. The firm invests in companies based in United States and Canada. It seeks companies with sales between $10 million and $100 million, EBITDA greater than $3 million and margins greater than 10 percent. For turnaround, the firm prefers to invest in companies with pro forma EBITDA greater than $5 million per annum. It seeks to have a board seat on its portfolio companies.
