Comeback Capital is an early-stage venture capital firm dedicated to investing in technology-based startups located outside traditional venture capital hubs, particularly in the Midwest. Founded in 2018 by Scott Shane, an economics professor at Case Western Reserve University's Weatherhead School of Management, the firm aims to bridge the gap between coastal investors and Midwestern startups. By connecting these startups with investors from established markets, Comeback Capital seeks to foster innovation and growth in the heartland. The firm has invested in 25 companies since its inception, including Path Robotics (Columbus), FloatMe (Texas), Paxafe (Wisconsin), and Civic Eagle (Minnesota). In 2021, Comeback Capital launched a $10 million rolling fund via AngelList to support early-stage companies beyond the Midwest. The firm also partnered with gener8tor to co-found and launch Ohio-based startups through a 16-week intensive program. Comeback Capital's team comprises experienced investors and entrepreneurs, including Patrick McKenna, Phil Hagerman, Tony Olivito, Larry Bernstein, Kevin Taylor, and Robb Meyer. The firm focuses on seed and early-stage investments, typically ranging from $100K to $250K, in sectors such as software, SaaS, information technology, internet, and automotive.
