Core Management II Corporation is a venture capital firm specializing in early stage ventures focusing on seed or Series A rounds, small to mid sized, emerging growth, mid and late venture growth companies. The firm will not consider investments in bankruptcies or turnarounds; companies headquartered outside of the United States; and will not provide capital for companies for physical expansion overseas. It does not invest in energy and utility; biotechnology; life sciences; real estate; drug delivery; professional services; and food and beverage companies. The firm prefers to invest in healthcare, information technology enabling or enhancing data and communication, telecommunications, communications, digital media, technology enabled services, virtualization technologies, mobile consumer applications and advertising solutions, predictive and data analytics and business intelligence tools and services, data protection, cyber security, cloud, technology infrastructure spaces, wireless hardware, software, and services, enterprise software, security software and hardware, advanced manufacturing, communications infrastructure, networking software and hardware, and Internet infrastructure, applications, and technology enabled services. The firm also invests in infrastructure and applications to support advancing mobile devices, networks, and data usage; big data; advanced datacenter technology and cloud infrastructure; and communications platform mining and targeting applications. It typically invests in companies based in United States with a focus on the Midatlantic, East Coast and Washington, D.C. metropolitan area in particular, but considers opportunities nationwide. The firm’s initial investments are typically in the $0.25 million to $2 million range. The firm invests between $3 million and $7 million and can invest between $10 million and $15 million in total capital over the life of the investment. It prefers to participate in investment syndicates for all its investments and invests in the form of either preferred stock or convertible debt in its portfolio companies. The firm seeks to be the lead investor and seeks a Board seat in the portfolio company. Core Management II Corporation was founded in 1999 and is based in Potomac, Maryland.
