Dakota Capital is a private equity firm specializing in middle market, acquisitions, recapitalization, management buyouts, and generational change of ownership, corporate divestitures, family succession, and growth capital investments. It does not invest in turnarounds, distressed companies, startups, retail, oil and gas, apparel, real estate (except as it relates to an operating company) and natural resources. It primarily invests in manufacturing and services sectors and in commercial printing, diversified support services, environmental and facilities services, office services and supplies, security and alarm services. It also provides its portfolio companies with access to its information technology for web based applications, Siebel Software, Hyperion financial software and data mining applications. It also provides The firm utilizes high end technology platform for operations in customer relationships management, financial software, web based application infrastructure and data mining. The firm seeks to invest in companies based in the Continental United States. It typically invests in companies with sales between $10 million and $100 million and trailing 12 months earnings before interest, taxes, and owners compensation (EBITO) in excess of 10 percent of revenue and greater than $2.5 million. The firm provides all the capital for transaction under $50 million and all the junior capital for transaction in excess of $50 million. It prefers to hold its investments for a period of ten years.
