Echelon Ventures is a venture capital firm specializing in early stage investments. However, it does not seek investments in start-up ventures. It considers investments in companies with a proprietary enabling technology in information tchnology, communications, and life sciences with a special focus on software and hardware technologies for network communications, drug discovery, medical devices, semiconductor manufacturing, alternative power, and technologies that improve manufacturing processes. However, the firm can consider other areas as well. The firm will consider investments in companies based in New England area. It will invest in companies seeking finance between $1 million and $5 million in equity capital. The firm also leads or participates in the follow-on rounds with the portfolio companies and can invest with other venture firms as well. It prefers to take a board seat in its portfolio companies. Echelon Ventures was founded in 2000 and is headquartered in Waltham, Massachusetts.
