HCP & Company is a private equity and venture capital firm specializing in growth equity, emerging growth, buyout, platform, later stage, and add-on acquisition in lower-middle market companies. It invests across small-to-medium sized businesses in business services, media, manufacturing, distribution, consumer products and services, capital goods, education, financial, information technology, telecommunication services, utilities, real estate, energy, material and healthcare services sector. The firm typically invests in companies headquartered in North America, the United States and Puerto Rico and which are serving the Hispanic market or is Hispanic-owned or managed. It usually invests between $4 million to $30 million in companies (invest larger with LP co–investments), with revenues between $5 million to $150 million and having a positive EBITDA and cash flow. The firm focus on the micro-cap space (sub $5 Million in EBITDA). The firm may participate in larger transactions along with co-investors. For add-on acquisitions revenue is not a criterion. The firm does not invest in early stage or start-up businesses. It prefers to take a board seat on its portfolio companies but does not participate in the day-to-day management. The firm prefers to take controlling, minority or majority equity positions in its portfolio companies. It generally avoid turnaround situations. HCP & Company was founded in February 2003 and is based in Chicago, Illinois with additional offices in Miami, Florida and Los Angeles, California.
