MERK Capital is a private equity investment firm specializing in private companies undergoing an ownership transition, recapitalization, growth capital, corporate divestitures, strategic add-on acquisitions for platform companies, select financial restructurings or turnarounds, and strategic growth strategy opportunities in middle-market companies. The firm prefers to invest in packaging, consumer products, food, building material, aerospace, manufacturing, distribution, business services, and technology companies. Within manufacturing, the firm focuses on niche manufacturing companies that make customized products with short order and production lead times and generate gross margins in excess of 25 percent. Within distribution, it invests in companies with value-added branding, merchandising, and unique processing with gross margins in excess of 20 percent. The firm invests in companies based in United States. However, there is no geographic preference for add-on acquisitions. It seeks to invest between $10 million and $1000 million in companies with revenues between $15 million and $1500 million and EBITDA between $2 million and $150 million with no minimum EBITDA for add-on acquisitions. The firm can take majority, control and non-control stake in its investments. MERK Capital is based in Chicago, Illinois.
