About
MFB Invest Zrt. Is a private equity firm and venture capital arm of the Hungarian Development Bank specializing in investments in direct investing, fund of fund investing, secondary indirect and secondary direct in small and medium-sized enterprises. Within direct investing it invests in middle market, later stage, emerging growth, incubation, early stage (pre-seed, startup), early venture, mid venture, industry consolidation and buyout. Within the fund of fund investing it invests in private equity funds and venture capital funds. It does not have specific industry focus but it invests primarily in companies operating in a number of industries including health care services, machinery, manufacturing, energy, food industry, Information technology, etc. The firm also participates in greenfield projects. It prefers to invest in companies operating or based in Central Europe, Eastern Europe, and Hungary. The firm prefers to invest a minimum of €0.45 million ($0.65 million) and at most 25 percent of the equity of MFB Invest Plc. It exits its investments between four to seven years through sale at stock exchange; over-the-counter sale; leverage buyout; initial public offering; management buyout; trade sale (sale to strategic or other investors) or exercise of an option. As a result of a decision made jointly by co-owners, the firm may also exit by terminating the project company through reduction of capital or final settlement. It typically takes minority and majority ownership. MFB Invest Zrt. was founded in 2006 and is headquartered in Budapest, Hungary.
