Within consumer sector, it focuses on ingredients and intermediate food products; foodservice channel products and distribution; private label/niche brand personal/household products; pet care; organic/natural, ethnic and private label packaged foods; value oriented and casual dining and franchising; ‘Do It Yourself’ products and distribution; specialty retail; consumer packaging. The firm focuses on companies based in the Midwest and Central/Western Canada, Midwestern United States, with a particular focus on companies located in the Upper Midwestern states of Minnesota, Wisconsin, Iowa, North Dakota, Nebraska, Illinois, and South Dakota. It typically invests between $5 million and $20 million in companies, Enterprise value of $15 million to $100 million and EBITDA of $2 million to $15 million. It can consider opportunities involving smaller companies as add-on acquisitions for existing portfolio companies and occasionally as stand-alone investments for an industry consolidation opportunity. The firm prefers to make a control investment and also minority stake. It typically invests for a period of between five years and seven years.
