Monomoy Capital Management, L.P. is a private equity firm that invests in both performing and underperforming lower middle market businesses. The firm specializes in corporate divestitures, plain-vanilla stock or asset purchases, industry consolidations, out-of-court restructurings, turnarounds, distressed, recapitalizations, PIPES, bankruptcy transactions, add-on transactions, and acquisitions of family owned businesses. The firm also makes debt investments. It prefers to invest in companies engaged in industrial, manufacturing, distribution, retail, and services businesses sectors with a focus on oil and gas equipment and services, industrial inorganic chemicals, powersports, industrial organic chemicals, plastic and synthetic resins, polymers, diversified chemicals, fertilizers and agricultural chemicals, industrial gases, specialty chemicals, construction materials, containers and packaging, aluminum, coating, engraving, and allied services, fabricated structural metal products, rolling, drawing, and extruding of diversified metals, smelting and refining of diversified metals, steel, paper, packaging and forest Products, automobiles and components, multiline retail, food service, specialty retail, and consumer staples. The firm seeks to invest in opportunities with companies headquartered in the United States or Canada or companies with significant operations in North America as well as in Europe. It invests between $5 million and $150 million per transaction in companies with annual revenues between $20 million and $2000 million. The firm makes add-on investments in companies with revenues of more than $40 million. It invests in companies having EBITDA from $20 million to $200 million. The firm invests in companies having enterprise values between $150 million to $1000 million and debt investment value between $20 million to $25 million. The firm generally holds its investments over a period of five to seven years and exits through sale to financial and industrial buyers. The firm makes controlling investments and prefers majority stakes.
