Within information and communication technology it invests in internet solutions including ecommerce; software development, system integration, e-learning, e-health, security solutions, social media, network technologies, wireless applications, communications equipment; geomatics including hydrographic and ocean mapping and remote sensing of the earth as it applies to resource management, mineral mapping; engineering including computer, electronics, environmental, architectural, ocean technologies, and medical. Within energy and environment the fund invests in alternative energy sources including bio-fuel development, manufacturing and equipment, renewable energy generation, conversion and storage, organic battery technology, advanced oil and gas extraction methodology and practises, and solar energy systems; climate and natural environment technologies including solid and gaseous carbon and hydrocarbon capture, advanced toxic spill adsorption and absorption materials, novel non-toxic polymer processes, biodegradable and compostable plastics, environmental testing, and reporting techniques, novel heating, and cooling systems; energy efficiency including software and machinery for identifying, monitoring and reducing energy use, alternative power systems for machines, sustainable and self sufficient industrial energy generation, and power sharing, micro energy generating devices. Within biosciences it invests in biotechnology including bio-medical engineering, bio-pharmaceuticals, genomics, breeding, and pest management, bio-remediation, bio-informatics, bio-products, crop science, and bio-pesticides; wood Science, forest protection, forest improvement, pulp and paper science, conifer propagation/breeding and forest pest management, genetic collection of trees; marine science, aquaculture, commercial fish physiology and shellfish ecology, equipment development, environmental research, oceanography, fish health, genetic collections of marine life. Within aerospace and defence the fund invests in air traffic systems, mission systems and ground equipment of various kinds, as well as the space industry and security related capabilities. Within industrial fabrication it invests in plastics and rubbers including packaging, wraps, containers, vessels, pipes and hoses; metalworking including fabrication, chassis, building materials, transportation equipment, conveyors, harvesting equipment, and containers, electronics- communication devices, organic and metallic switches and circuits, sensors, probes, smart materials, and gaming devices. Within value-added food it invests in agriculture and seafood-based products, beverages and other food made from both local and imported resources, live, fresh, frozen, packaged, processed and preserved food products. Within value added wood the fund invests in lumber, pulp and paper, engineered products, appearance products, and products derived from wood biomass. It invests between $0.05 million to $1 million per round, however, investments in pre-revenue companies are generally capped at $0.25 million.
