Outlier is a private equity firm specializing in business acquisitions and management buy outs, LBOs, investments in middle market, mature, growth capital, turnaround, recapitalization, and control investments. It seeks to avoid angel, venture capital or other early stage situations. The firm targets companies where a key manager or an entire management group is looking to buy a company but needs a capital partner. It prefers to invest in niche companies with niche products and services in any industry. The firm seeks to invest in consumer discretionary, health care, industrials, real estate, entertainment, aerospace, business services, niche manufacturing and outdoor, consumer staples and information technology sectors. It primarily invests in companies based in United States. The firm prefers to invest between $2 million and $30 million in companies with revenues between $5 and $50 million and EBITDA between $1.5 million and $10 million. It generally seeks to acquire a majority stake in a target company and 100% of a target company. The firm is a cash buyer and does not participate in stock or equity trades. At times, the firm takes a position of less than 100% of a target company either directly, or through an affiliated investment group. It primarily invests out of personal capital and balance sheet. Outlier was founded in 2005 and is based in the Phoenix, Arizona with additional offices in Scottsdale, Arizona.
