Within buyouts, it seeks to invest in non-core divisions of Fortune 1000 companies and family-owned enterprises. The firm prefers to invest in manufacturing with a focus on industrial parts and products, specialty chemicals and materials, media and lab equipment, low- tech supplies and consumables, specialty packaging, transportation and power products, non-trend consumer products. It invests in services with a focus on industrial services, business services, maintenance services, professional services outsourcing, business process outsourcing, security and government services, supply chain services, and engineering services. The firm also invests in education with a focus on content-based programs including assessment and item banks and basal and supplemental instructional software; administration and operation-based including data warehousing, reporting, and business intelligence, service providers including educational resource planning and special education programs and social and behavioral health services with a focus on treatment and rehabilitation including home and community-based counseling, residential treatment centers, and juvenile justice systems; facilitation programs including vocational rehabilitation; alternative school programs; independent living programs; and ongoing care including autism programs and services; therapeutic foster care; MR/DD programs. The firm also seeks to invests in distributors in traditional economy with a focus on basic materials; food products; non-consumer electronics; plastics, building products. It also invests in lower technology businesses that sell basic products and services to technology end users. The firm typically invests in United States with a focus on Midwestern and Western United States but can seek appropriate investments elsewhere. It also invests in Canadian Pacific Northwest-based companies. It seeks to invest between $3 million and $10 million in companies with enterprise value between $15 million and $75 million and revenue greater than $10 million. The firm invests in companies with a positive cash flow between $2 million and $10 million. It prefers to be a lead investor in its portfolio companies but considers minority investments with partners.
