Senatla Capital is a private equity firm specializing in Black Economic Empowerment (“BEE”), growth capital, mezzanine debt, property, middle market and late stage investments. It does not invest in early stage and startups. Within BEE and growth capital investments, it focuses on expansion and replacement capital type opportunities. The firm seeks to invest directly in private and publicly traded companies. It also makes investments in management buyouts in existing investors in Black Economic Empowerment (“BEE”) transactions where the underlying exposure is a Johannesburg Stock Exchange listed company, an Over the Counter market traded company or a large private company. Within private equity investments, it is sector agnostic excluding extractive (primary mining and agriculture) and sin industries. Within property investments, it focuses on commercial real estate, properties in the office, retail, industrial, logistics and residential space. The firm focuses to invest in economic infrastructure with Target sectors including Energy, Digital, Transportation/Logistics. The firm also invests in private credit strategies such as subordinated debt. The firm seeks to invest in South African companies. The firm prefers to invest ZAR40 million ($2.19 million) in companies with ZAR20 million ($1.06 million) EBITDA and enterprise value of ZAR100 million ($5.28 million) for private equity, for private credit it invests between ZAR30 million ($1.58 million) and ZAR 150 million ($7.92 million) and for real estate and infrastructure, the firm invests upto ZAR50 million ($2.64 million). The firm seeks to hold its BEE, private equity and growth capital investments for four to six years, for real estate it holds for four to seven years and for infrastructure it holds for four to eight years. The firm makes both minority and majority stake investments taking between 20 percent and 100 percent. Senatla Capital was founded in October 2010 and is based in South Africa.
