Slate Capital Group is a private equity firm specializing in investments in all stages of a company’s life cycle, from growth equity investing to leveraged buyouts. The firm invests in transactions involving growth capital, acquisition capital, management buyouts, leveraged acquisitions, industry consolidation, recapitalizations, ownership restructuring of family controlled businesses, and shareholder liquidity events. It targets light manufacturing, distribution, and service businesses including business services, healthcare service, for-profit education, niche software, direct marketing, food & beverage markets and consumer & retail sectors. The firm seeks to invest in all industries except banking, real estate, and natural resources. It prefers to invest in companies headquartered in the Mid-Atlantic region, but also considers companies with headquarters located on the east of the Mississippi River. The firm invests in companies with cash flows between $0.5 million and $5 million and EBITDA between $3 million and $15 million. It prefers controlling interest in acquired companies, but also considers minority investments. Slate Capital Group was founded in 2004 and is based in Baltimore, Maryland with additional offices in Nashville, Tennessee and Cincinnati, Ohio.
