The state Investment Corporation Ltd. (SIC) is a private equity and venture capital arm of Government of Mauritius specializing in direct and fund investments in seed, startup, and early venture, mid venture, late ventures, mature, emerging growth and growth capital. The firm seeks to invest in new ventures and across a spectrum of stages and life cycles of projects, from initial to maturity phase. The firm normally does not invest more than 30 percent of its portfolio in any one sector. It seeks to invest in all sectors except of Real estate. The firm seeks to invest in Mauritius, Rodrigues and the Indian Ocean Region. The firm normally invests the lower of 10 percent of its portfolio or MUR 100 million ($2.73 million) in a company or the lower of 15 percent of its portfolio or MUR 200 million ($5.46 million) in a group. It predominantly makes equity investments. The firm primarily seeks a minority stake in private or public sector projects. But, it may also take majority stake in projects it is spearheading. The State Investment Corporation Ltd. was founded in 1984 and is based in Port-Louis, Mauritius.
