Ticonderoga Private Equity, formerly known as Ticonderoga Capital, Inc., is a principal investment firm specializing in direct and fund of fund investments. For direct investments, it focuses on growth capital, middle market, mature, recapitalizations, buyout, growth equity, and later stage investments. The firm seeks to provide liquidity to founders and early investors and to help in the transition of management if necessary. The firm makes fund of fund investments in private equity funds and mezzanine funds. The firm also provides expansion capital in the form of preferred equity and subordinated debt. It does not take early stage concept risk and does not invest in industries such as retail and consumer, manufacturing, and devices and products. The firm invests in healthcare software and services, software (enterprise as well as Software-as-a-Service “SaaS’), and tech-enabled business services. Within healthcare, it invests in payor-side claim integrity systems, revenue cycle management, disease management, clinical research management, healthcare IT (Software), management analytics, receivables management, healthcare communications, and staffing. Within software, it invests in customer relationship management, supply chain management, content management, revenue optimization, security, business intelligence, and employee’s communication and training. Within tech-enabled business services, it seeks to invest in business process outsourcing and market research. Within business process outsourcing, it invests in distribution, logistics management, and sales training and communications. The firm typically considers investments in companies based in United States. It seeks to invest between $2 million and $10 million and participates in financings up to $50 million. The firm invests in companies with annual revenues between $5 million and $50 million, organic growth greater than 25 percent, and a positive EBITDA. It prefers to act as a lead and first institutional investor but also participates as a member of larger syndicates with other investment groups mostly in majority purchases of companies with revenue between $4 million and $40 million and at least $2 million EBITDA. The firm prefers to take a minority stake and board position in its portfolio companies. Ticonderoga Private Equity was founded in 1997 and is based in Boulder, Colorado with an additional offices in Braintree, Massachusetts and Boston, Massachusetts.
