Tuatara is a sector-focused private equity firm dedicated to helping great companies realize their vision in the burgeoning cannabis industry. The word “Tuatara” is a native Maori word meaning “peaks on back.” In the oral history of the Nation of Waitaha, one of the oldest Māori tribes and natives of the South Island of New Zealand, Tuatara were viewed as the Keepers of Knowledge, and the Guardians to the trails of the realms of the mind and spirit that gave the Maori people life. Tuataras live up to 100 years in the wild and their most curious physical attribute is a “third eye” on the top of the head, often viewed symbolically as being prophetic.
